Bio

Maria has always had a passion for family law. A graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law’s Night Program, Maria’s experience complements her current practice and gives her unique insight from which her clients greatly benefit. While attending law school in the evenings, Maria worked full-time as a Case Manager at Lucas County Child Support Enforcement Agency and interned with the Honorable Judge Stacy L. Cook at the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas.

While managing work and school, Maria served as a mentor, Vice President of the Night Student Association, and Note and Comment Editor on Board 53 of the University of Toledo Law Review. In 2021, her article analyzing underlying biases in family law was published. After graduating in the top 20% of her class, Maria joined Smith & Smith Law Offices to serve clients and their families during a stressful, vulnerable, and difficult time in their lives.

Maria volunteers her time to read and judge submissions to the Toledo Bar Association’s annual Law Day Essay Contest. In her spare time, Maria enjoys watching movies, creative writing, and spending time with her friends and family – especially her pets.

Passionate and determined, Maria has developed a work ethic that focuses on compassion, candor, and accuracy, making her an ideal advocate for any client.
